Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making our website accessible to everyone
Last updated: January 1, 2025
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Elite Performance Institute San Diego is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards to achieve this goal.
We believe that all people, regardless of ability, should have equal access to our services, including access to our website, information about our clinical services, and the ability to contact us and schedule appointments. Accessibility is not merely a compliance matter — it reflects our core values as a healthcare provider.
This Accessibility Statement was prepared on January 1, 2025, and reflects the current state of our website's conformance and our ongoing efforts to improve.
2. Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 Level AA defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor disabilities.
Our current conformance status is: Partially Conformant — some content does not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We are actively working to remediate identified issues and achieve full conformance.
We have implemented or are working to implement the following:
- Semantic HTML5 landmarks for all major page regions (header, nav, main, footer)
- Descriptive page titles unique to each page
- Descriptive link text and button labels
- Alternative text for all informational images
- Sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
- Keyboard navigability for all interactive elements
- Skip navigation link at the top of every page
- Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
- Form labels explicitly associated with their inputs
- Error messages descriptive and programmatically associated with form fields
- ARIA roles and landmarks where native HTML is insufficient
- Support for reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion media query)
- Responsive design supporting viewport zoom up to 400%
3. Known Accessibility Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Known limitations include:
- Embedded video content: Videos from YouTube may not have complete closed captions for all content. We are working to add captions and transcripts to all video content.
- Third-party maps: The embedded Google Maps component may not be fully accessible. We provide a text alternative with our complete address and a link to Google Maps as a workaround.
- PDF documents: Older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate or replace them with accessible HTML alternatives.
- Complex data visualizations: If present, these may not have complete text alternatives. We will add descriptions as content is added.
We are actively working to remediate all known accessibility issues. If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please report it to us.
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browsers:
Screen Readers
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech) — Windows
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) — Windows
- VoiceOver — macOS and iOS
- TalkBack — Android
Browsers
- Google Chrome (latest two major versions)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest two major versions)
- Apple Safari (latest two major versions)
- Microsoft Edge (latest two major versions)
Zoom and Magnification
- Browser zoom up to 400% without loss of functionality
- Compatibility with operating system magnification tools
Keyboard Navigation
- All functionality is accessible via keyboard without a mouse
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Logical tab order throughout all pages
5. Technical Specifications
Accessibility of our website relies on the following technologies:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (including CSS custom properties and media queries)
- JavaScript / TypeScript (React 19, Next.js 16)
- ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) where needed
Our website is built with Next.js 16 and follows React accessibility best practices. We use semantic HTML elements, ARIA landmarks, and progressive enhancement to ensure that core functionality is available even when JavaScript is unavailable or fails to load.
